Chen Chu Chows came to be because of my love for the breed and having owned a chow as a child. After much prodding, in 1979 my husband and I decided to purchase a chow for the family. In the search we somehow found our way into showing and breeding. Spending much time learning and reading about this wonderful breed. Deciding on the bloodlines and what our goals were to be.

Our First litter was whelped in 1983.  We have bred/owned over 20 chow champions, all on a limited in-house breeding program. Producing the First US Female Smooth Champion in the History of the Breed, Ch. Chen Chu Black Ice, Gidget became the First Female Smooth Champion... First Black Smooth Champion and the First Smooth Female to go Best of Breed and Group with a Group Three placement all before she finished in 10 shows. Due to an injury her show career came to an end much to soon.
 
Other highlights as a breeder has been Ch. Tamarin Velvet Talisman another smooth who was #6 Top Ten Chow (Total Dogs Defeated) 1994. As his breeders we are very proud of him and his owner Pru Baxter.

In 1999, we campaigned our boy Ch. Chen Chu Kickin It Up.....and Kickin It Up he did with multiple Best Of Breeds and Group Placements in limited showing. We are very proud of him and the dogs that came before him. 

Our emphases is on breeding a consistent quality and breed type in all dogs both Show and Pet. Breeding for a sound mind, body, correct movement, who is intelligent, alert, balanced and active with temperament of the upper most importance to us.
